If you’re looking for a way to win $500 and drive traffic to your blog, you should enter Business Blogger’s blog contest. 

The contest runs during the month of February, and the grand prize winner takes home $500 in cash.  The runner-up gets a brand new BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT OC 512MB PCIe with ThermoIntelligence Graphics Card.  (That was a mouthful.)  This card apparently allows you to connect two LCD displays and comes with a HDTV adapter and HDCP capability for high-definition video.

After the contest ends, Business Blogger will calculate the submissions and choose a winner with randomizer software.  It will award the prizes in March.

All you have to do to enter this contest is….blog about it on your website!  That’s easy, and, if you haven’t guessed yet, that’s why I’m blogging about it here in this space.  A $500 award is nice and can come in handy, but the real value of entering this contest lies in building traffic for your blog.  This contest helps you increase traffic in several ways:

1) Your blog post exposes your blog to search engine searches about the contest.  When people hear or read about this contest, some of them will run searches on Google or Yahoo.  Your blog post has a great chance of coming up in their search results depending on what kinds of keywords you use in your post.

2) You can comment at Business Blogger and link back to your blog post about the contest.  That way, you not only promote your post, but you also promote your blog to the readers reviewing the comments at Business Blogger.

3) If you win the contest, you receive even more exposure and even heavier traffic.   

In addition to this contest, you can establish another stream of traffic to your site by submitting your links to Business+Directory.  Business Blogger has a February promotion at Business+Directory, where it is offering free reviews throughout the month of February.  All you have to do is submit links to the directory, (which, admittedly, you would want to do anyway).  Thus, this is another win-win situation.  You submit links, and you get a review, which drives traffic to your website.
