Some of us think that starting a business is difficult, and we attribute that difficulty to our lack of creativity.  What we don’t realize, however, is that we don’t need to be creative.  We simply need to identify a problem in the market and then create a product or service that solves that problem.

One way to implement that strategy is to look at what people want and value on a large scale.  In other words, figure out what it is that drives people.  Identify the general ideas and industries that people flock towards.  One of those is money, obviously.  Several years ago, it was real estate.  A few years before that, it was the Internet.  Then, it was tech stocks.  Now we’re seeing a movement towards nutrition and health.

A niche within that area is the fight against aging.  There is currently a growing demand for research to stop the aging process.  This demand doesn’t just include the desire to live longer; it also includes the concept of living and feeling like a 20+ year-old indefinitely and wiping out age-related problems like illnesses, diseases, and decay.  One blogger, Scott Wainner, is trying to help people live longer by promoting longevity research, including offering $20 to the first 100 bloggers to blog about it.

Let’s face it.  He’s right.  Nobody wants to get old or look old.  It’s the human condition, yes.  But does it have to be this way?  When I was a kid, I heard a scientist on a radio talk show say that there is no age that a human being cannot reach.  If that is true, why are we dying off before we reach the century mark?  One would say it’s because our bodies break down, etc.  But can research prevent that from happening?

I absolutely think so.  Genetic research can help the problem of aging and slowly extend human life to the limits I heard about in that radio show years ago.  And, perhaps, even beyond that.

This growing movement for research presents infinite opportunities.  There are countless ways to start a business centered around this movement.  It can involve selling products designed to help the problem of aging.  It can involve counseling services for educating people on what changes they can make in their lives, either through dieting or exercise, to improve their life spans.  It can involve researching aging and writing about it.  It can involve marketing this research or advertising longevity products.

Any of these ventures offers solutions to a market problem (aging).  They also benefit society in two ways:

1) They promote and further longevity research, which will ultimately help society on a large scale and improve our lives.

2) They are investments in businesses that will ultimately grow and create wealth for you.
