It’s a glorious Monday morning, and I am back from a three-day detox getaway weekend in Marco Island, Florida.  The past couple of weeks (and the month before that) were insane at work, and I needed to get away for three days with my family to re-connect with them and re-charge my batteries.

This getaway meant that I didn’t post here for three days, so I apologize for that.  I aim to post every day, and I didn’t do that this past weekend.  Nonetheless, I’m back and in the game again.

For this post, I wanted to reveal some of my thoughts over the weekend, and I also want to let you know what my plans are for this blog going forward.

My Thoughts

Over the weekend, my daughter (now 13 months old) uttered her first word.  She has been saying “mama” and “dada” indiscriminately the past couple of months, but this one actually sounded like a word she has heard and was now repeating.

The word was “money.”  Seriously.  She said “money,” and she pronounced it “mon-ahyyy.”

She said it on Friday, and this got me thinking.  Had I been at work that day, I wouldn’t have heard it.  Sure, I would have heard it later one when she said it the second or third time.  But the very first time?  If I hadn’t taken the day off, I would have been at my desk at work, and I wouldn’t have heard her.

I was lucky enough to be there.  However, I have missed a lot of other “firsts” because of this job (e.g., her sitting up; taking 2 to 3 steps walking; rolling over, etc.).

I refuse to accept that missing these things is a given.  It doesn’t have to be this way.  I continue working on my side projects (even sacrificing sleep in the process) because I believe and know that the attainment of passive income is real.  It’s an exit from this rat race.  And it has the potential to pluck me out of this God-forsaken office and place me in my daughter’s life . . . all day long.

It’s funny that her first word was “money.”  Almost like a sign.

This Blog

As I thought about the above, I reflected on my blog.  I love writing here, and I only post about the things that matter to me.  My goal with this blog was to catalog my ideas about making money and, hopefully, document my quest for passive income and job liberation.

I think I’ve catalogued a lot of ideas and views.  Now, however, I want to place a greater focus on documenting my projects.  I’ve done a little bit of that with my BANS stores.  I want to jump more into those, work at them, and make them profitable.  I also want to document my other business ideas.  I want to show my readers that writing about money is more than just maintaining a blog.  I never wanted this to be just a “make money online” blog, nor did I want it to be a major source of revenue.  I want it to be a blog that shows you how to start your own business and free yourself from job purgatory (with me as a case study).  I also want to provide the principles and mindset necessary to pursue and achieve that goal.

In addition to updating my progress, I think this focus will produce useful information for blog posts.  Anything that I learn from my businesses and from my quest in general, I will write about here.  This includes new thoughts and ideas I come up with as well as the mistakes I make.

Remember: You don’t have to be a salaried employee forever.  You really don’t.
