I love video games, and I agree that they're great stress relievers. As for the house issue, your situation reminds me of where I live (the Miami, Florida area). Houses are insane here as well. In fact it was quite 'alien' to me when people decided to live in apartments/condos/hi-rises. Moved out to BC and the cost of housing is so high, I can now understand why people opt for apartments, condos and townhouses -- houses are too expensive! But my wife and I are yearning for our own house, however at approx $800,000 and my wife being a stay-at-home mom making enough to cover a mortgage is just not possible. Combined with ensuring our son gets a good education (saving into his RESP) and gets the opportunity to play sports and partake in activities, a $800,000 property is out of reach. But we've not given up hope! I'm sure we'll get it some day...
